• Nuts – Nuts are high in fat, but the fats that they contain are tremendously beneficial if you include them in your healthy diet. They are high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids that are beneficial; they are known to improve the health of cell membrane and insulin sensitivity. Nuts are a good source of magnesium and fibre, and the best thing is that they are low in carbohydrate and have a low glycemic index, which makes them very beneficial for diabetics
• Cherries – Research has found that cherries have naturally occurring chemicals that help to fight diabetes. Compounds called anthocyanins increases insulin production, which helps to lower your blood sugar. This powerful antioxidant called anthocyanin has many other benefits which include the protection against heart disease and cancer
